Publication Ethics

Young Nurses Journal of Research (YNJR) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, research integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal expects authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members to uphold the principles of honesty, fairness, confidentiality, accountability, and transparency throughout the publication process.

YNJR follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and research integrity, including relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), where applicable.

Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research and manuscripts meet appropriate ethical and scholarly standards. Authors must:

  • Submit original work that is not under consideration by another journal.
  • Report research findings honestly and accurately.
  • Avoid fabrication, falsification, manipulation, and misrepresentation of data.
  • Provide appropriate citations and acknowledge the work of others.
  • Ensure that all listed authors have made appropriate contributions to the work.
  • Disclose relevant conflicts of interest and sources of funding.
  • Obtain required ethical approval for research involving human participants or animals.
  • Obtain informed consent where required.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of research participants.
  • Cooperate with the journal if questions arise concerning the integrity of the submitted or published work.

Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining a fair, transparent, and confidential editorial process. Editorial decisions should be based on the scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, and ethical integrity of manuscripts.

Editors must:

  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Manage manuscripts fairly and without discrimination.
  • Declare and appropriately manage conflicts of interest.
  • Ensure that peer review is conducted appropriately.
  • Investigate credible concerns regarding research or publication misconduct.
  • Take appropriate action when errors or ethical violations are identified.

Reviewers

Reviewers contribute to maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal. Reviewers must:

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  • Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based comments.
  • Identify potential ethical concerns or suspected misconduct.
  • Declare conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
  • Not use unpublished information obtained during peer review for personal or professional advantage.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe whenever possible.

Research and Publication Misconduct

YNJR does not tolerate research or publication misconduct, including:

  • Fabrication of data or results.
  • Falsification or inappropriate manipulation of research.
  • Plagiarism.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Inappropriate authorship.
  • Manipulation of the peer-review process.
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Inappropriate manipulation of research images or data.
  • Failure to obtain required ethical approval.

Where misconduct or serious ethical concerns are suspected, YNJR may request explanations, supporting documentation, or clarification from the authors and, where appropriate, their institutions or relevant authorities.

Corrections and Retractions

YNJR is committed to maintaining an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record. When necessary, the journal may publish corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in accordance with appropriate publication-ethics principles.

YNJR is committed to protecting the integrity of the scholarly record and promoting ethical, transparent, and responsible nursing and health-science research. All authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members share responsibility for maintaining these standards.
